The last three weeks have been… a lot.
The chaos hasn’t stopped. Every day feels like a race just to take a few steps closer to some sense of normalcy. But I wanted to pause for a minute and share a few personal updates…👇🏼
Losing our home in the Pacific Palisades fire on January 8th has been the hardest challenge we’ve ever faced. The other night, out of habit, I drove toward our old home… only to be stopped by roadblocks. All I could do was shake my head and wipe my eyes. It still feels like a nightmare I’ll wake up from. Accept it’s not.
Processing this will take time. But in the midst of all the loss, there has been so much love – and for that, we are beyond grateful.
Our family is safe and together. Greyson is staying strong most days, Saydee is struggling more, and Karis is holding us all up. My kids, just 9 and 6, have already spent half their lives navigating COVID – and now, they’ve lost the only home and community they’ve ever known. My heart breaks.
We’ve found a small rental in East Venice – and feel blessed to have found anything at all, as many of our close friends and community are still displaced. There’s a park across the street, and the kids have friends nearby — we’re calling this season an adventure and know community and connection matter most.
For those outside LA, it’s hard to grasp – it wasn’t just our home that burned. Our entire town burned.
Marquez, our kids’ school, burned. Saydee’s class relocated, but her closest friends are now scattered. Greyson just started at a new school, stepping into the unknown with courage – a reminder that even in the hardest moments, we can find the good and keep moving forward.
The outpouring of love has been overwhelming. Every message, every act of kindness, every donation – it’s not just helping us rebuild a space. It’s helping restore hope. It’s proof that even in darkness, there is light.
I’ve been speaking with experts, authorities, media and community leaders, doing everything I can to shine a spotlight, call for help, and push for change.
Because this isn’t just about us.
Thousands of families are facing the same struggle. We’ve reached a breaking point, and something has to change.
This journey is full of uncertainty. But one thing I know for sure: we are not alone.
The love and support we’ve received is a reminder of what humanity looks like at it best. And the way people are showing up right now is something we’ll never forget.
